Love as composition
The Tree of Love is a useful way into Richard’s thinking because it is not only about what is written. It is also about how the words are arranged, held and allowed to breathe.
White space and flying space
In Richard’s practice, the spaces between the forms are active. They shape rhythm, balance and feeling. A viewer is not only reading a word, they are moving through the space around it.
A collectable trail
The work has an existing public trail through Islamic Art Prints. That makes it useful as an archive and commercial story, while owner-controlled artwork files still need final quality and rights checks before commercial reuse.
